Average: an amount, standard, level, or rate regarded as usual or ordinary. Simply nothing special. Being told you are average can sting. Average athlete, average student, average looking, etc. No matter what context it is in, it simply means you are nothing special.
Being told you are average can be motivation to some but a downer for others. Personally, I use it as my motivator. When someone tells me I will not be successful in something it makes me work twice as hard just to prove them (and sometimes myself) wrong.
I will never settle for average. I am inspired by the fear of being average. I will be successful in all that I put my mind to. I will dedicate myself to success and work my ass off until I get there. I will not let the negativity and doubt of another hold me back from reaching my goals.
At first being told, “you’re average” was a downer for me. I was hurt and confused. It made me question my abilities and my goals. Were my goals unrealistic? No. They are smart goals. My goals are specific, measurable, attainable, and realistic. My goals are MY GOALS. Not the goals of someone else. I am the one measuring my goals therefore I am the only one with the ability to determine where I am at that point in time.
I refuse to let anyone tell me who I am or where I am going to be. I refuse to allow anyone to chase me away from my goals and dreams. I will never settle.
I am inspired by the fear of being average.
