A happier/healthier life does not have to be complicated or difficult. Create your own happiness. Five things to do more often include reading more, drinking more water, laugh/smile, go outside and meditate.
Read to expand your vocabulary, learn, and reduce stress. Find a good book and dive into it. Let your mind focus on the words.
Reading will help you enhance your vocabulary by using words that you may have never heard or rarely hear. If I ever come across a word in a novel that I am unsure of or rarely hear, I write it down so I can look it up and find ways to incorporate it into my vocabulary.
Reading helps relieve stress because you are able to escape the troubles of your day and dive into the book. Different books will help different people. We all have our preferences in books so branch out and expand your horizon.
Drink more water! I say this often but it is extremely important. As I mentioned in 3 Healthy Habits and the Importance of Hydration, water flushes toxins out of vital organs, carries nutrients to cells, and provides a moist environment for ear, nose, and throat tissues. There are many different flavors that can be added to water to mix up the flavor as well. Drinking water is crucial to helping one live a healthy lifestyle!
Laugh/smile randomly. When you are looking in the mirror, look at your reflection smiling back at you. As awkward as it, it is hard to be in a bad mood when you are giving yourself a cheesy smile. Laugh often and worry less.
Go outside! Nature is beautiful. Travel if possible or simply take a walk around your neighborhood. Clear your mind and focus on the nature around you.
Notice the sounds you hear, sights you see, and scent you smell. Birds chirping, dogs barking, people talking – take it all in. The feel of the gravel or grass beneath your feet. The smell of a fire burning or the smell of food pouring from someone’s kitchen window. Take it all in. Appreciate the beauty of the world around you.
Meditation is a stress relief technique that I use very often to clear my head and cheer up. Lie down and escape to your favorite place. Go somewhere that makes you happy while lying on your bed or on a yoga mat on the floor.
Meditation will relieve stress, improve concentration and encourage a healthy lifestyle. While meditating you will have control over your mind and body. Meditation is successful when the one practicing is entirely focused and centered on the connection they are trying to make. Meditation encourages a healthy lifestyle as it tends to increase your desire for healthier foods. Meditation could influence your choices on what you’re putting into your body. You may choose to fuel yourself with healthier foods.
These five things can be done almost anywhere and it can definitely be done every single day (at least one of the five). Try one of the above tactics and contact me to let me know how it goes!
